The Kazamaroffs Brothers Circus School is located in Grigny, Essonne, under the company's Open and Yellow Big Top . Opened in September 2023, it constitutes the educational extension of a professional contemporary circus company founded in 1997 by Benoît Belleville and Gérard Clarté .
For nearly thirty years, Les Frères Kazamaroffs have been developing an artistic universe at the crossroads of circus , juggling , object manipulation , contemporary dance , music and visual arts . The company has created a dozen shows and has extensive experience touring in France and abroad.
The opening of a permanent school in Grigny now makes it possible to pass on this experience to new practitioners. The school welcomes children from the age of 4 , teenagers and adults, but also independent, semi-professional and professional practitioners thanks to open training slots .
The youngest children discover circus arts in the Mini Circus course for 4-6 year olds . The learning combines juggling and acrobatics and uses circus practices to develop motor skills , body awareness and spatial awareness .
Children aged 7-15 have access to a two-hour multidisciplinary course. Supervised by professional artists, children and teenagers experience different branches of circus arts and gradually develop their technique, creativity and independence.
From age 16 , the offerings become more specialized. The 2026-2027 season notably includes an acro-juggling course and a course dedicated to aerial disciplines . The latter explicitly focuses on aerial silks , trapeze , and aerial hoop .
Juggling also holds a central place in the identity of the Kazamaroffs Brothers. A specific course is offered to those aged 16 and over focusing on juggling and object manipulation, with attention paid to coordination, expression, and the relationship between the object, the body, and the stage space.
The school also offers open training slots under the big top. These allow independent practitioners to work in a fully equipped space and encourage interaction between people of different levels, from amateurs to professionals.
This coexistence between beginner students, experienced practitioners, and professional artists directly reflects the school's mission. The Kazamaroff brothers wish to make their big top a resource center dedicated to circus arts, experimentation, and artistic liberation, where emerging talents can meet more experienced artists.
The teaching approach thus goes beyond mere technical acquisition. The school combines circus practice with the development of self-confidence , autonomy , self -expression , and the ability to collaborate with others . Juggling, finding one's balance, and learning to use one's body also become ways to better understand one's potential and develop a personal project.
Each year, students have the opportunity to showcase their work at the school festival. Children and adults participate in a show under the big top, creating a link between learning, creation, and interaction with the public.
The permanent school in Grigny, however, represents only a part of the company's educational activity. For many years, Les Frères Kazamaroffs have been developing a veritable itinerant circus school in the heart of the neighborhoods.
With their large and small yurts, the artists set up temporary cultural spaces at the foot of the buildings and offer workshops in:
These facilities are built with local associations and municipal services in order to promote access to culture and create meeting spaces.
The Traveling Cultural Center and the Yurts in My City project combine circus arts, performances, music, storytelling, discussions, film screenings, and various activities offered in collaboration with local community partners. The company reports having established 32 locations in 7 cities and 18 neighborhoods , mobilized around fifty associations and municipal services, and welcomed several hundred children to its traveling circus school.
This experience firmly establishes the Kazamaroffs Brothers within the field of social circus and cultural action . Their projects are developed primarily in urban priority neighborhoods and aim to break down barriers between audiences, foster encounters, and provide local access to artistic practices.
The company also works in schools, particularly middle and high schools. Projects are developed in collaboration with teachers and allow students to explore different artistic languages related to circus arts while developing creativity, expression, and cultural awareness.
The company's activities extend beyond this framework. A professional announcement published by the French Federation of Circus Schools in 2026 confirms interventions with school audiences, but also in the health , social care and detention sectors.
The company also maintains a significant professional creative activity. Its shows blend juggling, object manipulation, dance, live music, visual arts, video, and sometimes contemporary magic. The themes of travel, wandering, migration, and encounter run through much of its artistic work.
This latest creation particularly illustrates the dialogue between disciplines developed by the company: Chinese hoops become borders to be crossed, aerial fabrics evoke seas and travel, while live music accompanies a universe dedicated to migration and cultural mixing.
The students at the school thus develop in an environment directly linked to the professional circus. The teachers are themselves artists, and the practice takes place under the big top of a company that is always committed to creation and performance.
The Kazamaroffs Brothers are members of and supported by various networks and partners:
This public and territorial support accompanies the association's projects.
The Kazamaroffs Brothers Circus School is therefore a rather unique project among schools in the Île-de-France region. It is not simply a place for leisure: the school is directly integrated into the activities of a professional company and combines amateur instruction, independent training, meetings with professionals, creation, social circus, school programs and cultural outreach.
From Mini Circus for 4-6 year olds to specialized adult courses, from open training to workshops organized in neighborhoods, the project promotes an accessible circus where technique, creativity, expression and encounter are closely linked.
