Zircologik – Biel Circus and Theatre School

Zircologik is a circus and theatre school located in Biel/ Bienne , in the canton of Bern, Switzerland. It develops a bilingual French-German teaching that combines technical learning of circus arts, theatrical expression, creativity and collective work.

The school is located at Chessu , a cultural space in Biel/Bienne where it organizes its weekly training sessions.

Its educational approach is based on a conception of circus as a discipline that is simultaneously physical , artistic, and social . Participants are encouraged to experiment with different techniques, develop their own ideas, and actively participate in the creation of collective projects.

Children aged 4 to 6 can then join the Mini-Artists groups, which provide a first introduction to the different circus disciplines.

The Young Artists groups welcome children aged 7 to 9 , while the Juniors are mainly aimed at 9-15 year olds .

Students gradually discover juggling , balance techniques , ground acrobatics , aerial acrobatics and different forms of stage expression .

Acrobatic work includes, in particular, rolls, cartwheels, hand balances, round-offs, human pyramids and various group techniques.

Juggling helps develop coordination, precision and concentration, while balance exercises encourage students to better understand their bodies and their capabilities.

Aerial disciplines also constitute an important part of the teaching.

Zircologik offers specialized courses to deepen work on different apparatus, as well as instruction in Chinese pole .

The Cyr wheel also has its own course, accessible from age 14 .

Acrobatics and duo acrobatics benefit from specific sessions, allowing interested students to further develop their technique and body control.

Teenagers and adults can join general circus classes or more advanced training depending on their experience.

The school also offers individual training and specialized workshops on request, particularly for people wishing to deepen their knowledge of a discipline or develop a more intensive practice.
