Circus for children and teenagers in Augsburg offering regular circus arts training from age 6. Juggling, acrobatics, unicycle, diabolo, trapeze, poi, trampoline and clowning are taught in an educational, creative and inclusive approach, culminating each year in the creation of a show.
Zirkus Augustin – Augsburger Kinder- und Jugendzirkus eV is a children's and youth circus based in Augsburg, Bavaria. Originally, the project was part of the extracurricular activities at the Freie Waldorfschule Augsburg. It was taken over and renamed Zirkus Augustin in 2023 by Magdalene Saegebarth and Viktoria Blümel, before becoming, in early 2026, an independent, publicly recognized non-profit organization.
The project aims to offer children and teenagers a social, artistic, and creative space where they can discover their abilities, develop their talents, gradually push their own boundaries, and learn to function within a group. An inclusive approach is a key aspect of the project: the circus seeks to enable young people with different abilities and needs to practice together and share a common artistic experience.
Activities are organized into several groups according to age.
The "Augustinchen" group welcomes children aged 6 to 10 and allows them to discover circus arts in a fun way. Participants can learn juggling , acrobatics , balance ball , unicycle , diabolo and trapeze .
From ages 11 to 18 , young people can join the Zirkus-Augustin-Ensemble . They explore various disciplines such as acrobatics, juggling, trapeze, unicycle, poi, diabolo, trampoline, and clowning. Regular training sessions are led by an artistic and educational team that includes professionals trained in circus pedagogy, clowns, and directors, supported by activity leaders and young coaches.
The work goes beyond simply learning individual techniques. Throughout the year, children and teenagers gradually develop their own acts and participate in creating a complete circus program . The different groups come together around this shared creation, which is presented to the public during summer performances . Additional rehearsals are organized before the shows to ensure the production is prepared under the best possible conditions.
The Zirkus Augustin pedagogy also places great importance on personal development . Through circus arts practice, young people are encouraged to build self-confidence, discover their potential, accept challenges, persevere, and develop mutual support and teamwork skills. The mix of ages, experiences, and abilities helps create an environment where everyone can progress at their own pace while contributing to a collective project.
The Zirkus Augustin thus constitutes in Augsburg a space dedicated to the practice , transmission and creation of circus arts for young people, combining technical learning, artistic expression, inclusion, personal development and stage experience.
