Sirius Juggling Club: create the one that suits you
There's no such thing as a perfect club for everyone, but there is a club suited to your juggling style . With the Sirius from Play Juggling, you choose the feel you prefer: a flexible or rigid shaft, a smooth or rolled handle, and the colors of each element. Whether you juggle solo, in passing, or work with five or more clubs, you create your own Sirius.
With its 52 cm length , 24 cm handle , and relatively short body, the Sirius offers a geometry appreciated for both casting and handling: backcrosses , alberts , flats , and rolls . The shaft and handle chosen then affect its performance and comfort in the hand.
Your Sirius is specially assembled for you at NetJuggler. The components are manufactured by Play Juggling in Italy. We then assemble each club to order, in our workshop in the Limousin region of France , using the parts and colors you have chosen. We know this model inside and out and are always available to advise you, maintain it, or repair it.
Choosing your Sirius at a glance
Do you already know what you're looking for? This quick guide will help you select the stem and handle in the configurator. Click on an option to find its detailed explanation below.
| You are looking for… | Our advice | For what ? |
|---|---|---|
| A versatile, robust and affordable club | PX3 Stem | Slight flexibility, good tolerance and high resistance. |
| Less weight, while maintaining flexibility | PX3 Light Stem | 15g lighter than the PX3, with a similar feel. |
| A rotation with a clear and dynamic feel | PX4 Stem | The rigidity of fiberglass and a direct response. |
| A light, rigid and precise club | EX1 Stem | The PX3 Light is lightweight with a rigid aluminum shaft. |
| A comfortable reception | Smooth handle | A generous grip, pleasant when receptions are irregular. |
| More space in the hand at the start | Rolled handle | A slightly thinner profile to hold several clubs. |
It's not about quality levels: a stiffer or lighter club isn't necessarily better for your juggling style.
Explanatory video about Wes Peden's Play clubs:
The video is in English, but it effectively explains the influence of the central rod and the handle on the feel of juggling.
What type of handle should I choose?
Both Play handles are made of a soft-touch material that provides a good grip, even when hands are sweaty. The difference isn't simply "beginner" or "professional": it mainly concerns comfort when catching and the available space in the palm.
- The Smooth molded handle is more generously sized and comfortable during catches, making it particularly pleasant when your catches are still a bit imprecise. It's an excellent starting point for learning, but many experienced jugglers also prefer it.
- The wrapped handle is approximately 0.5 mm thinner and tapers towards the bottom. This small difference becomes useful when holding multiple clubs in one hand, particularly at the start of certain exercises involving five or more clubs. Choose it for the space it frees up in your hand, not because it's supposedly reserved for professionals.
Which center stem should I choose: PX3, PX3 Light, PX4 or EX1?
The choice of shaft influences the flexibility , weight , and response of your Sirius rod during casting. The PX3 and PX3 Light shafts are slightly flexible; the fiberglass of the PX4 and the aluminum of the EX1 provide a stiffer feel.
- PX3: Versatility and Durability — approximately 220g. Its extruded plastic shaft retains a slight flexibility, making it forgiving even when throws aren't yet perfectly consistent. Robust and affordable, the PX3 is an excellent choice for progressing, solo juggling, practicing passing, or equipping circus workshops. It remains perfectly suitable for advanced players.
- PX3 Light: Flexibility with 15g less weight — approximately 205g. It offers a feel similar to the PX3, but with a reduced weight. The 15g weight saving can be appreciated during long sessions, for children, or when working with five or more clubs. If you like a slightly flexible shaft but want to limit the weight you handle, this is an interesting option.
- PX4: Direct response in fiberglass — approximately 215 g. Its rigid fiberglass shaft reacts more directly to throws and provides a crisp, dynamic feel, with a weight close to the PX3. It is particularly appealing if you appreciate the feel of a traditional wooden-shafted club, without seeking flexibility.
- EX1: Rigidity and lightness combined — approximately 205 g. Its 7075 aluminum shaft, an alloy renowned for its strength and lightness, combines the advertised weight of the PX3 Light with exceptional rigidity. It features an internal foam lining. Its slightly larger diameter compared to other shafts allows for a tight fit, which helps reduce vibrations felt in the handle. The EX1 provides a feeling of stability and precision that is particularly appealing to demanding jugglers and those practicing technical throws.
Indicative weights provided by Play Juggling for the different versions: they may vary slightly depending on the configuration chosen.
Our advice based on your practice
- For starting out or equipping a circus school: the PX3 with a smooth handle is a robust, accessible, and comfortable combination for catching. It is suitable for introductory exercises as well as regular practice.
- For juggling with three or four clubs and passing: the Sirius is perfectly suited; especially choose the flexibility of the PX3 or the more direct response of the PX4 according to your feelings.
- For five, six, or seven clubs: the PX3 Light and the EX1 allow you to reduce the weight being handled, each with its own specific characteristics. The rolled handle can facilitate starts with multiple clubs in one hand.
- If you're used to wooden shafts, you should try the stiffer feel of the PX4 or EX1. If you prefer a slight flex, the PX3 and PX3 Light remain excellent choices, regardless of your skill level.
NetJuggler's review of the Sirius juggling clubs from Play Juggling:
This model is fully assembled in-house to order. We appreciate its sturdiness, the quality of its finish, and the fact that everyone can find a combination suited to their preferred feel. It's a club that's a pleasure to juggle, and can support the progression of a beginner as well as meet the expectations of enthusiasts and professionals.
A significant advantage over clubs with a central wooden shaft is the durability of the Play shafts . The Sirius performs well in demanding conditions: outdoor practice, intensive training, or tricks involving rebounds off hard surfaces. The tips, however, are wear parts that require regular attention.
And most importantly, we are experts in the assembly and maintenance of this model . If you have any problems, you can contact us or return your Sirius for a complete overhaul. We can replace worn parts and help you extend the life of your club.
Maintaining your Sirius: a few simple steps
- Keep an eye on the lower end and its screw: if the end rotates too easily on the handle, check that the screw is tight. This helps preserve the fasteners and prevents it from loosening during a session.
- Check the upper tip: abrasive surfaces, especially tar, accelerate its wear. With intensive use, it may be necessary to replace it periodically, sometimes every few months.
- Is a part damaged? No need to replace the entire club: many parts are available separately. And if you have any doubts about assembly, our team can advise you.
