Cirque du Soleil – OVO | 2026 European Tour 🐞🌿
Cirque du Soleil continues its grand European tour with OVO, one of its most iconic and beloved creations. First presented in 2009, this show has already captivated millions of spectators worldwide with its vibrant world, exceptional acrobatic performances, and universal story. In 2026, OVO will visit several major European cities, including Brussels, Rouen, Orléans, Paris, Poitiers, Salzburg, and Graz, offering audiences an unforgettable visual and emotional experience.
Inspired by the fascinating world of insects, OVO – which means "egg" in Portuguese – immerses us in a miniature ecosystem teeming with life, where each creature plays its part in a perpetual ballet. The story begins when a somewhat clumsy insect falls in love with a beautiful ladybug. Their encounter takes place in the heart of a colony where insects work, dance, feed, flutter, and celebrate life. The mysterious appearance of a gigantic egg disrupts their daily routine and symbolizes the cycle of life, birth, and renewal.
On stage, more than 50 international artists bring this extraordinary world to life through a series of acts blending aerial acrobatics, hand balancing, hand-to-hand balancing, trampoline, tumbling, juggling, contortion, dance, and visual theatre. Each discipline flows seamlessly into the next, accompanied by live music and a dynamic staging that alternates between humor, poetry, and thrills.
One of OVO's greatest strengths lies in its incredible artistic direction. More than 100 meticulously crafted costumes transform the performers into beetles, crickets, butterflies, spiders, ants, and ladybugs. The sets, inspired by a rainforest seen from an insect's perspective, create a lush environment where the vegetation appears gigantic and every detail contributes to the immersive experience. The lighting effects, projections, and original music enhance this magical atmosphere, so characteristic of Cirque du Soleil.
The show is directed by Brazilian choreographer Deborah Colker, renowned for her approach blending contemporary dance, theater, and physical feats. Her work brings a constant energy to the performance while leaving ample room for emotion and storytelling. Behind the acrobatic performances lies a powerful message about biodiversity, cooperation, curiosity, and the fragile balance of life.
Running for approximately 2 hours and 5 minutes, including a 25-minute intermission, OVO is suitable for all audiences. Children will be captivated by the costumes, characters, and ever-present humor, while adults will appreciate the quality of the artistic performances, the richness of the set design, and the exceptional technical skill of the acrobats.
Whether you're passionate about contemporary circus, a fan of large-scale shows, or simply looking for a memorable family outing, OVO is an unmissable experience. A true benchmark in live performance, this Cirque du Soleil production continues to captivate audiences with its poetic world, infectious energy, and the virtuosity of its artists.
