Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of theatrical clowning during this two-day workshop led by Gérald Garnache, on November 28th and 29th, 2026 at L'Écoutille – Petit lieu d'art vivant, in Grenoble. Open to everyone aged 18 and over, this workshop is suitable for both beginners curious to discover the art of clowning and artists, actors, or amateurs wishing to deepen their practice and refine their stage presence.

Over the course of the weekend, Gérald Garnache offers a comprehensive approach to clowning, centered on listening, sincerity, and the joy of performing. Participants will explore fundamental emotions—surprise, joy, sadness, fear, anger, and disgust—to understand how they contribute to building an authentic and relatable character. In-depth work will also be devoted to the mechanics of the body and the connections between posture, movement, and emotional state, allowing for the development of rich and spontaneous physical expression.

The workshop will place great emphasis on self-awareness and listening to one's partners, essential for clowning, as well as on the relationship with the audience, a true partner on stage. Participants will also discover the fundamentals of laughter technique, learn to play with rhythm, breaks, silences, unexpected reactions, and the many comedic devices that evoke emotion and laughter.

The exercises, clowning techniques, and numerous improvisation sessions will complement this exploration. Each exercise is designed to encourage freedom of play, develop creativity, embrace the unexpected, and cultivate the joy of being on stage without striving for perfection. In a supportive yet challenging atmosphere, everyone will be able to experiment with their own clowning language and reveal a unique aspect of their artistic personality.

The €5 annual membership fee is included in the price, valid from September 1, 2026, to August 31, 2027.
