Battle Beat Juggling – Hip-hop dance and juggling show at Le Prato in Lille (Hip Open Dance 2027)

For the Hip Open Dance 2027 festival, Le Prato and Le Flow – Centre Eurorégional des Cultures Urbaines are joining forces to present Battle Beat Juggling, an original show that brings together two disciplines where virtuosity, rhythm and improvisation are at the heart of the performance: hip-hop dance and contemporary juggling.

Conceived as a true artistic laboratory, this new event reinterprets the battle format, creating a playing field where artists no longer compete solely within their own discipline, but collaboratively construct a shared language. Here, the dancers' movements respond to the trajectories of objects, throws accompany choreographic movements, and musicality becomes the guiding thread of an encounter as surprising as it is spectacular.

For this inaugural edition, eight hip-hop dancers will meet eight jugglers in a series of original confrontations where technique, creativity, and improvisation skills will be put to the test. Participants will have to adapt to both their partners and their opponents, invent new ways of communicating, and push the boundaries between movement arts and object manipulation.

The battle is hosted by two MCs from their respective worlds. Macarena Gonzalez Neuman takes on the role of circus MC, while Wondernai takes the reins as the hip-hop MC. Their rapport, energy, and improvisational skills set the pace for the entire evening, introducing the artists, guiding the various rounds, and maintaining the unique atmosphere of battles where the audience is fully integrated into the show.

Inspired by the great encounters of hip-hop culture, Battle Beat Juggling showcases both technical skill and the artists' ability to create the unexpected. Each performance becomes a unique creation where jugglers explore the codes of freestyle while dancers embrace the world of object manipulation. The disciplines blend, influence each other, and give rise to hybrid performances where listening, rhythm, precision, and inventiveness take center stage.
