NOW 2027 – Today's Circus Festival

From April 1st to 9th, 2027, the MAIN-TENANT – Festival of Contemporary Circus returns to showcase contemporary circus throughout the Amiens metropolitan area. Organized by the Cirque Jules Verne – Pôle National Cirque Amiens, this unmissable event brings together several major cultural players in the region around a rich, demanding, and accessible program, offering a panorama of current circus creation.

For nine days, audiences are invited to discover shows that push the boundaries of traditional circus. Acrobatics, juggling, physical theatre, dance, music, performance art, visual poetry, humour, and experimentation come together to create unique works where technical virtuosity serves emotion and storytelling. MAIN-TENANT celebrates a vibrant, inventive, and profoundly human circus, capable of surprising both seasoned enthusiasts and first-timers alike.

The festival takes place in nine partner venues across Amiens and its surrounding area: the Cirque Jules Verne, the Maison de la Culture d'Amiens, Le Safran, the Comédie de Picardie, the Musée de Picardie, the Centre Culturel Léo Lagrange, Le Trait d'Union in Glisy, the town of Boves, and the Ciné Saint-Leu. This widespread presence allows the public to explore different cultural spaces while discovering a variety of artistic forms.

The 2027 edition will officially open on Saturday, April 3 at 6:30 p.m. at the Cirque Jules Verne, on the occasion of the festival's inauguration.

The program brings together several landmark creations of contemporary circus:

Attention à ta tête, presented on Thursday, April 1st in Boves, opens the festival with a proposal hosted by the City of Boves.
NUGGETS, presented in partnership with the Maison de la Culture d'Amiens, is shown on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd April at the Cirque Jules Verne.
Pas Bête will be taking over Le Trait d'Union in Glisy on Sunday, April 4th.
Taking place takes up residence at the Musée de Picardie from Tuesday 6 to Thursday 8 April, offering an experience where heritage engages in dialogue with live performance.
Hyperboles is hosted by the Maison de la Culture in Amiens on April 6 and 7.
Goupil & Kosmao is presented on Wednesday, April 7th at the Comédie de Picardie, blending humor, imagination and contemporary circus.
ZAP is being offered on the same day at the Léo Lagrange Cultural Centre.
Sortir par la porte is hosted by Le Safran on Thursday, April 8th.
Finally, the festival concludes on Friday, April 9th with La Nuit du Foutoir, a grand closing night organized at the Cirque Jules Verne, a truly festive moment celebrating the full diversity of circus arts.

Beyond this program, MAIN-TENANT highlights the collaboration between several cultural institutions that work year-round to develop contemporary circus. The festival is led by Cirque Jules Verne with the participation of Centre Culturel Léo Lagrange, Le Safran, Comédie de Picardie, Musée de Picardie, Maison de la Culture d'Amiens, Trait d'Union, the City of Boves, and Ciné Saint-Leu. Each partner also offers its own program of shows or workshops, allowing the public to create a personalized experience throughout the event.

Designed for all audiences, MAIN-TENANT appeals to families, circus enthusiasts, the curious, and seasoned performers alike. The shows explore a wide range of styles, alternating between physical performances, intimate creations, humorous offerings, immersive experiences, and hybrid forms that blend circus, theatre, dance, and visual arts.

The festival fully illustrates the vitality of contemporary circus: an art form in constant evolution, deeply rooted in its time, which questions the world as much as it inspires wonder. For nine days, Amiens becomes one of France's major contemporary circus events, offering a unique opportunity to discover established artists as well as new voices in circus creation, in iconic venues throughout the city.
