What if Peter Pan had refused to grow up… until he became a clown lost in time?

With Jamais, Compagnie l'Heure Avant l'Aube delivers a contemporary clown show that is as funny as it is moving, offering an original take on the famous myth of Peter Pan. Presented at Le Prato – Pôle National Cirque de Lille, this solo performance, conceived and performed by Matthieu Poulet, draws the audience into a world where humor mingles with melancholy, where imagination clashes with the inexorable passage of time.

The curtain rises on a strange awakening. In a dusty, abandoned room appears a pale clown. It's Peter Pan. Only… he's now 45 years old. Where is Wendy? How could time have flown by so quickly? Convinced he left a few hours earlier to join the mermaids of Neverland, Peter discovers he may have missed an entire lifetime.

Through this unique reinterpretation of the character created by J.M. Barrie, inspired by Kathleen Kelley-Lainé's essay *Peter Pan or the Sad Child*, the show tenderly explores our difficulty in growing up, our refusal to age, our nostalgia for childhood, and the illusions to which we cling. Peter here becomes a fallen clown, trapped in an adult body but still driven by a childlike spirit that rejects reality.

The show plunges us into a psychedelic universe where memories, dreams, absurdity, poetry, and biting humor intertwine. The famous Neverland becomes a mental territory where everything still seems possible… until the inexorable ticking of time reminds us that no one can escape its march.

Driven by Matthieu Poulet's remarkable physical performance, Jamais blends theatre, contemporary clowning, improvisation, emotion, and fantasy in an inventive staging that constantly plays with the conventions of live performance. Behind the laughter lie universal questions about the passage of time, the fear of growing up, the artificial paradises we create for ourselves, and the necessity, one day, of accepting adulthood.

The show is conceived and performed by Matthieu Poulet, co-written and co-directed with Hamideh Doustdar. Sound design is by Simon Denis, lighting design by François Décobert, costumes by Patrick Cavalié, props by Florence Garcia and Marie Hébert, with an outside perspective on the set design by Vincent Lefèvre.

This creation is co-produced by Les Moulins de Chambly – Scènes Culturelles and La Manivelle Théâtre (Wasquehal). It benefits from the support of the Hauts-de-France Region, the Oise Department, the ACSO Community of Municipalities – Creil Sud Oise Agglomeration, the DRAC Hauts-de-France, the FONPEPS, as well as numerous partner venues that hosted the show in residence, including the Théâtre du Beauvaisis, La Faïencerie de Creil, La Manekine, Le Samovar, Le Palace de Montataire and the Centre Culturel Léo Lagrange d'Amiens.
