"Dans nos bras" (In Our Arms) is a creation by Troisième Cirque designed specifically for toddlers from the age of 6 months. Presented at Le Prato – Pôle National Cirque de Lille, this contemporary circus show offers a sensory, playful, and poetic experience where emotions, movements, and music become a true language accessible to both the youngest children and the adults accompanying them.
"It's beautiful here. Everything is almost ready. We said 'no work'! So we had lots of fun getting everything ready. We saw a rainbow. When you come, you can leave your well-behaved adults in the changing rooms. We've eaten all the candy, but there's still some music left. Oh! A horse! See you later!"
On stage, two circus artists and a musician engage in a dialogue through acrobatic lifts, inspired by the familiar sensations of early childhood: being carried from arm to arm, climbing on adults' bodies, being rocked, set down, lifted, or regaining one's balance. Through movement, the bodies tell a sensitive story, without needing many words, allowing very young spectators to experience the performance with their own imagination.
The artists perform a series of acts in a cartoonish world full of surprises, where acrobatic dance lifts blend with an electronic-inspired soundscape. The show plays with the conventions of circus and live performance, from entrances to applause, to create a format perfectly suited to toddlers. Every movement, every sound, and every interaction is designed to spark curiosity, stimulate the senses, and share a special moment between children and adults.
At the helm of the Third Circus, Maroussia Diaz Verbèke, circus designer and tightrope acrobat, continues her work exploring circography, a term she coined to describe the specific writing of a circus performance. Alongside Élodie Royer, a radio program creator at France Inter, she envisions an artistic vision where the circus becomes a fantastic sensory and emotional playground.
Following the international tours of Fiq! and 23 Fragments of These Days, the two creators present Dans nos bras (In Our Arms), their first show for very young children. They tenderly explore how to communicate with children from their earliest months, emphasizing movement, sensations, and closeness rather than traditional storytelling.
The show is performed by Maria Jesusta Penjean Puig and Julio Do Nascimento, accompanied on stage by musician Quentin Gohier. Props and costumes are by Élodie Royer, technical research is by Thomas Roussel, production administration by Brice Di Gennaro, and distribution and production by Carol Ghionda. Artistic direction of the Third Circus is provided by Maroussia Diaz Verbèke and Élodie Royer.
The Prato had already hosted the company with the shows Circus Remix and Circus Remake, rediscovering here its unique universe made of poetry, inventiveness and a renewed look at the circus arts.
Dans nos bras is co-produced by Cie DCA (Saint-Denis), La Ferme du Buisson – Scène nationale de Noisiel, L'Azimut – Pôle National Cirque Antony – Châtenay-Malabry, Le Tandem – Scène nationale Arras/Douai and the Réseau Cirqu'Évolution, winner of the Courte-Échelle call for projects for the 2026-2027 season, with the support of the DRAC Île-de-France. Le Troisième Cirque is subsidized by the Ministry of Culture and the DRAC Île-de-France.
A delicate, joyful, and tender show that celebrates the pleasure of being carried, playing, exploring, and growing together. An invitation to share a first moment of contemporary circus where sensations take precedence over words and where young and old alike discover, for a brief interlude, a true rainbow of emotions.
