The BIAC 2027 Professional Meetings are one of the most important European events dedicated to the development of contemporary circus. Organized by Archaos – Pôle National Cirque, they bring together for five days all the key players shaping international circus creation today.
From February 9 to 13, 2027, several hundred French and foreign professionals will gather at the heart of the International Circus Arts Biennial, a major festival organized throughout the Marseille metropolitan area and the South Region, to discover new creations, share their experiences and imagine the future developments of the sector.
These meetings aim to foster exchanges between the various professions within contemporary circus. They allow for the creation of new artistic partnerships, the development of international networks, support for both emerging and established companies, and encourage reflection on current issues in artistic creation.
The 2027 program will include, in particular:
21 shows, including 9 original creations;
roundtables dedicated to the challenges of the sector;
presentations of artistic projects organized in partnership with ARTCENA;
meetings with the artistic teams;
networking opportunities between companies, broadcasters and programmers;
exchanges around the production, distribution and evolution of circus practices.
At the previous event, over 400 professionals participated in the Professional Meetings. The following were represented:
programmers;
artists;
companies;
production offices;
professional federations;
circus schools;
specialist journalists;
researchers;
institutional representatives.
In total, more than 300 organizations from 30 countries were present, confirming the international dimension of this event which has become essential for the entire circus industry.
The Professional Meetings are fully in line with the BIAC dynamic, a festival that highlights the full diversity of contemporary circus through a program spread across numerous theaters, big tops and cultural venues in Marseille and the South Region.
Beyond artistic discovery, this event constitutes a real space for reflection on the changes in the sector: evolution of circus writing, support for companies, international cooperation, circulation of works, production, distribution and new models of creation.
The detailed program for the Professional Meetings will be unveiled in the fall of 2026. Registration will open at that time for professionals wishing to participate in the 2027 edition.
