The Lido – Toulouse Municipal Circus Arts Centre is launching a call for applications to recruit circus instructors for the 2026-2027 season. This opportunity is for circus arts education professionals wishing to join a leading school where knowledge transfer, artistic creation, and student support are central to the educational project. Successful candidates will lead classes for children, teenagers, and adults, while actively participating in the life of the institution and its cultural outreach.

The Lido – Municipal Circus Arts Centre is a municipal school run by the City of Toulouse. Recognized both in France and internationally for its unique teaching approach, the school welcomes nearly 300 amateur practitioners of all ages each year. Its curriculum provides long-term support, extending over almost ten years, to foster both technical and artistic development.

The Lido project is based on a vision of the circus as a true tool for individual and collective empowerment. The establishment upholds strong values of sharing, cooperation, creativity, kindness, and artistic freedom, offering an environment where everyone can develop their physical abilities, imagination, autonomy, and personal expression.

Beyond weekly classes, the Lido carries out numerous activities that contribute to the dynamism of its educational project. The school notably organizes introductory workshops, internships, supervised training sessions for professional artists and educators, teacher training programs, arts and cultural education projects, as well as regular participation in several major events in the sector such as La Nuit du Cirque, Circa, the Ramonville Street Festival, and the Cugnaux Street Festival.

Starting this season, following a call for tenders issued by the City of Toulouse, the support of amateur circus arts activities at the Lido and municipal cultural centers is being provided by the association Les Thérèses. This non-profit organization (governed by the French law of 1901) has been developing live performance production activities for over 30 years, primarily in the fields of circus arts and street arts. The recruited instructors will be employed by this association while working closely with the Lido's teaching staff on a daily basis.

Under the authority of the association Les Thérèses and in permanent contact with the teams of the Municipal Circus Arts Centre, the future facilitators will have the main mission of supervising the various activities offered by the school.

Their responsibilities will include implementing the Lido's educational program, preparing their sessions, developing a progression adapted to the different groups, and evaluating their work throughout the season. They will be responsible for the proper use of workspaces and teaching materials, in accordance with the procedures established by the institution.

The safety of participants is a priority. Instructors must guarantee both the physical and emotional safety of the groups, adapt their interventions to the situations encountered, and take the environment into account in order to ensure optimal conditions for practice.

They will guide students in developing their technical and artistic skills, while fostering their creativity and independence. Monitoring the individual progress of each student, both technically and artistically, will be an integral part of their role. They will also support students throughout their learning journey by providing personalized instruction.

When groups include minors, the facilitators will need to create and maintain a relationship of trust with the families in order to ensure consistent educational support.

The position also has a significant human dimension. Future teachers will need to support groups in their daily development, facilitate the integration of new students, develop a positive group dynamic, encourage mutual support, solidarity and kindness among participants, while ensuring that everyone finds their place within the group.

Beyond teaching time, the facilitators will actively participate in the life of the Lido. They will have to keep themselves informed of the school's projects, attend pedagogical meetings as well as meetings dedicated to the organization of the life of the establishment, take part in the various events organized throughout the year and follow the internal training offered by the structure.

The Lido is looking for candidates with genuine experience teaching circus arts and a good understanding of different audiences. In-depth knowledge of the cultural and circus scene is particularly valued.

Human qualities play a crucial role in the recruitment process. Candidates must demonstrate a genuine interest in innovative teaching methods, share the values of popular education, possess a strong artistic sensibility, and have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Proficiency in writing educational materials and using office software is also required.

Specialized training in circus arts pedagogy is a significant asset, in particular:

TIAC;
BPJEPS Circus Activities;
State Diploma for Circus Teachers;
or any other equivalent training.

Training in the field of animation is also appreciated, particularly the BAFA, BAFD and PSC1. A category B driving licence is desirable.

The position is scheduled to begin in September 2026.

The position is offered as a fixed-term part-time contract, with a salary set at €18.50 gross per hour.

The main activity will take place at the Lido – Municipal Circus Arts Centre, located at 14 rue de Gaillac in Toulouse, but may also involve travel as part of artistic projects, events, residencies or stays organised by the organization.

Candidates are invited to submit a CV and a cover letter to the association Les Thérèses, sending them simultaneously to the following addresses:
