Compagnie Bonnes Intentions – Shows, sculptures and balloon-related activities

Since its creation in 2007, Compagnie Bonnes Intentions has dedicated itself to changing the perception of balloon sculpting by considering it a true artistic discipline. Based in Lezennes, near Lille, the company has been developing research and creative work around balloons, object manipulation, visual theatre and puppetry for over fifteen years, in order to demonstrate that balloons can become a fully-fledged stage material, on par with circus arts, magic or object theatre.

This original artistic approach has led her to create several shows aimed at very young children, families, and older audiences alike, while also offering numerous event services centered around balloon sculpting. Over the years, the company has developed a poetic universe where balloons are no longer mere festive accessories but become characters, sets, costumes, imaginary creatures, or even scenographic elements capable of telling a story and evoking emotion.

Based in the Hauts-de-France region, the company also has branches in Bordeaux and Le Puy-en-Velay, allowing it to operate across a large part of France. It performs regularly in the Hauts-de-France, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Occitanie, and Île-de-France regions, while also responding to requests in numerous cities such as Lille, Arras, Paris, Agen, Toulouse, and Saint-Étienne.

The Compagnie Bonnes Intentions currently offers several original shows. "Little Blue and Little Yellow" is a 25-minute show for very young audiences, suitable for children from 3 months to 6 years old. Inspired by Leo Lionni's famous picture book, this show delicately reimagines the story of Little Blue and Little Yellow, bringing the characters to life with simple balloons. A duo of performers gradually transforms the colorful shapes into real living beings that interact with the children. The balloons become little characters swept up in their discovery of the world, evolving in a universe of visual and sound effects while maintaining a sense of simplicity. This adaptation pays homage to Leo Lionni's original work by offering a fresh perspective on the themes of difference, encounter, friendship, and discovering others, specially designed for the youngest viewers.

The company also presents Around the World by Balloon, a 45-minute family show recommended for audiences aged 3 to 101. This production tells the story of Joe-Jito, faced with a universal dilemma: should he fulfill his dream of traveling or stay with the people he loves? Throughout this adventure, the characters gradually appear before the audience's eyes thanks to live balloon sculpting. The creations come to life as the story unfolds, illustrating a poetic tale blending humor, imagination, and emotion. The show concludes on a hopeful note, inviting young and old alike to leave with their heads in the clouds and a smile on their faces.

The company's third creation, Les Métamorphoses (The Metamorphoses), is aimed at audiences aged 8 and up and lasts 40 minutes. Two performers play with words, objects, and situations to revisit several great ancient myths. The stories of Arachne, Thisbe, Apollo, and Narcissus are reinterpreted in a minimalist world where object manipulation, puppetry, and the repurposing of props take center stage. Although this show is no longer available for touring, it demonstrates the company's ongoing commitment to exploring new narrative forms and continuing its research into the staging of balloons.

Alongside its live performances, Compagnie Bonnes Intentions has developed a significant events business. It creates live balloon sculptures at public and private events, designs monumental sets made entirely of balloons, and creates original costumes, giant characters, stilt walkers, street performances, parades, and artistic installations for festivals, local authorities, libraries, cultural centers, businesses, Christmas markets, commercial events, and family gatherings. Each project is custom-designed to transform venues into ephemeral worlds where balloons become a spectacular element of the set design.

The company's artistic work relies on several complementary personalities. Jérôme Levrel, artist and artistic director, is the driving force behind the various projects and the company's artistic direction. It was under his guidance that the research gradually focused on balloon sculpting and object manipulation as a stage language. Pierre Soyère, initially a technician on Around the World by Balloon, later became both a technician and an actor on The Metamorphoses and then on Little Blue and Little Yellow, actively participating in the development of the various productions. Maxime Duby, for his part, has worked with balloon sculpting for over 25 years. He specializes in the design of monumental sets, costumes, artistic structures, and original works made exclusively from balloons, bringing his expertise to the company's event productions.

Several performances have already been announced for the 2026 season. "Little Blue and Little Yellow" will be presented on September 23, 2026, at the Haspres Media Library. A performance is also planned for November 3, 2026, at the Espace Barbara in Petite-Forêt, subject to confirmation. Finally, "Little Blue and Little Yellow" will be performed again on November 14, 2026, at the Seclin Media Library; this date is also subject to confirmation.

Throughout its creations, Compagnie Bonnes Intentions pursues the same objective: to demonstrate that the balloon is much more than a simple festive object. Through work blending theater, manipulation, visual poetry, sculpture, puppetry, and scenographic research, it transforms an everyday material into a genuine medium for emotion, imagination, and storytelling. Its shows, installations, and artistic interventions invite audiences of all ages to rediscover the balloon from a fresh perspective, where creativity, simplicity, and wonder take center stage.
