The association L'Art d'En Faire offers its weekly circus workshops for the 2026-2027 season in Aubenas, running from September 14, 2026 to June 17, 2027, excluding school holidays and public holidays. Open to children according to their year of birth, these workshops allow them to discover and practice circus arts throughout the year in an artistic, educational, and personal development environment. Classes are held in the gymnasium of the Lycée Gimond in Aubenas and are led by Héloïse Benoit, Alyne Huot, Ambre Marquès, and Lola Mareels, qualified professionals from the circus school.
The groups offered in Aubenas are divided by age to allow for appropriate progression. The Pirouette 2 group welcomes children born in 2018 and 2019, every Wednesday from 4:15 pm to 5:30 pm. The Pirouette 3 group is for children born in 2016 and 2017, every Wednesday from 5:30 pm to 6:45 pm. If a workshop no longer appears during registration, it means it is full. However, it is possible to request to be placed on the waiting list by writing to ecoledecirque@lartdenfaire.com.
Throughout the season, children gradually discover the main disciplines of circus arts. The sessions explore juggling in all its forms, including with balls, clubs, devil sticks, and various manipulative objects. They also practice balancing on objects, such as tightropes, balance balls, unicycles, and other apparatus adapted to their age. Acrobatic techniques play a significant role, with ground work, rolls, cartwheels, balances, body strengthening, and acrosport. Children also discover aerial disciplines, including the fixed trapeze, aerial silks, and, depending on the association's educational projects, an introduction to the flying trapeze. Circus arts are regularly enriched by other artistic practices such as dance, theater, music, visual arts, and audiovisual media, in order to develop artistic expression, creativity, and cultural awareness.
The practice is not limited to technical learning. The workshops guide participants in building a genuine collective creation, from initial experiments to the presentation of a show. Children discover how an artistic project works, learn to interact in a group, to listen to others, to share the stage, to manage their emotions, and to present their work to an audience.
L'Art d'En Faire is first and foremost a circus arts school with an educational project based on the principles and values of popular education. Popular education is defined as a process that allows individuals to develop outside of traditional learning frameworks, to cultivate their critical thinking skills, to form their own opinions about society, and to act individually and collectively on the world around them. The association welcomes all members of the public in southern Ardèche and carries out a significant portion of its activities through a social circus approach, in partnership with local authorities and stakeholders in education and the social sector.
The project pursues several major educational objectives. It aims to support individuals in their personal and social development, fostering self-respect and respect for others, autonomy, empowerment, and the ability to express themselves. It also seeks to create opportunities for positive community living through circus arts in the areas where the association operates.
To achieve these goals, the teaching team develops several complementary approaches. The instructors draw upon the richness of circus disciplines while constantly adapting their projects and methods to the specific needs of the participants. This adaptation addresses both individual needs, such as disability or personal challenges, and collective needs related to a particular region, school, group, or context. The organization also seeks to foster active participation, deliberately moving away from a passive, consumerist approach to leisure activities. The teaching methods employed reject competition, prioritize collective expression, and encourage cooperation. The workshops also promote an openness to diverse artistic cultures, whether heritage cultures that build a collective identity—circus, dance, theater, music—or the cultures that shape each individual's unique identity, all within a spirit of exchange, understanding, and respect.
The training is structured around three main areas of development. The first is concentration, which gradually leads to the development of rigor, perseverance, and risk management skills related to circus disciplines. The specific demands of juggling, balancing, aerial techniques, and show preparation allow participants to develop these essential qualities. The second area is self-confidence. Through technical progression, the discovery of one's own abilities, and the mastery of risks associated with aerial disciplines, balancing, and acrobatic techniques, each participant learns to better understand themselves while developing a positive self-image. The third area concerns cooperation skills. The numerous group work situations, acrobatic lifts, artistic creations, and collaborative projects allow participants to learn to collaborate, communicate, and build together, always without a spirit of competition.
The teaching offered by L'Art d'En Faire is part of a genuine quality approach. As part of its quality accreditation, the association commits to respecting social legislation, guaranteeing the safety of the practice and teaching locations for circus arts, ensuring a permanent presence of qualified and certified instructors, preserving the health and physical integrity of the participants, and providing the public with a personalized and accessible educational program.
Registration is organized in three mandatory steps. Each participant must purchase a 2026-2027 membership, a 2026-2027 FFEC license, and then choose their workshop. The annual workshop fee depends on the family income bracket: €265 for a bracket below 500, €320 between 501 and 1000, €375 between 1001 and 1500, and €430 above 1500. A payment plan is available to make it more accessible for families.
Full registration and payment are required to participate in the workshops. The first two classes constitute a trial period. After these two sessions, families can request a full refund without needing to provide a reason. After this period, only illness or relocation will result in a refund, calculated pro rata to the remaining time, excluding membership and license fees.
Families can also benefit from the Bonus Collégien scheme offered by the Ardèche Department. Children enrolled in middle school can receive a discount of between €60 and €120 on the cost of workshops.
The association places particular importance on the accessibility of its activities. All weekly workshops and courses are open to children and young people with disabilities.
