From December 10 to 13, 2026, the International Center for Movement Arts (CIAM) invites the public to rediscover Les Nuits [du Magic], its grand Christmas circus show in Aix-en-Provence. For four days, the CIAM's Magic Mirrors big top will be transformed into a circus extravaganza designed for all ages, blending poetry, acrobatics, wonder, and a festive atmosphere. Following its inaugural edition in December 2025, Les Nuits [du Magic] returns in 2026 to close out the CIAM's artistic season.
🎪 The show takes place at the International Center for Movement Arts (CIAM), a cultural venue in Aix-en-Provence entirely dedicated to circus arts. Located on Route de Galice, on the edge of the pine forests of Aix-en-Provence, since 2013, CIAM develops a project focused on teaching, creating, disseminating, and discovering contemporary circus. It welcomes approximately 35,000 participants each year, including some 400 students in its circus school.
At the heart of the site is the Magic Mirrors, the iconic CIAM marquee and the chosen venue for Les Nuits [du Magic]. Wood, velvet, proximity to the stage and a warm atmosphere all contribute to creating an experience different from that of a traditional performance hall.
✨ Conceived as a true Christmas circus show, Les Nuits [du Magic] seeks to recapture the wonder and imagination of the holidays without abandoning the contemporary circus identity championed by CIAM. For its 2026 edition, the center announces an evening blending storytelling and acrobatics, designed for both children and adults.
The first edition, held in December 2025, offers a glimpse into the spirit of this creation. The Magic Mirrors venue hosted a reimagined carnival world, drawing on references ranging from the imagination of Tim Burton to Fellini. The story followed Viola, a street child fascinated by the circus and eager to find her place in this world.
This first edition brought together several disciplines: rolla bolla, juggling, balancing, hula-hoop, clubs, passing, partner acrobatics, mountain bike trials, tightrope walking, bottle walking, trapeze dance, and swinging trapeze. It was directed by Amélie Kourim, an artist trained at the Fratellini Academy.
⚠️ These artists, disciplines, and dramatic structure correspond to the 2025 edition. To date, CIAM has not yet announced whether the 2026 production will be exactly the same show, a revised version, or feature a new cast. It would therefore be misleading to include them in the 2026 program as if they were already confirmed.
What is confirmed is the return of the event: The Nights [of Magic] will take place from December 10 to 13, 2026 under the Magic Mirrors big top, constituting the last major highlight of the 2026 artistic program of CIAM.
The show is part of the broader project of the International Centre for Movement Arts (CIAM), which aims to make contemporary circus accessible to a very wide audience. Throughout the year, CIAM develops a circus school, educational programs, artist residencies, and various events, including its major festival, Jours [et nuits] de cirque(s), in September.
