A graduate of the Moscow Circus School in 1930, Nikolay E. Bauman became a professor at this prestigious institution in 1947. In 1962, he published *The Art of Juggling* , an instructional manual designed to train professional jugglers according to Soviet technical standards.

The book also includes, as an appendix, a chapter from a second rare book by Bauman, preserved thanks to contemporary editorial work.
