Fire Hand Leather Monkey Fist

Sold individually (For a pair, please buy two units).

The Leather Monkey palm torch is a robust palm torch specifically designed to accentuate hand movements in fire dancing. Its structure rests on a flexible steel spring, providing the necessary suppleness to absorb the intensity of acrobatic movements without weakening the base. Positioned approximately 10 cm above the hand, the wick creates a captivating visual effect while maintaining an optimal thermal safety distance for the performer.

NetJuggler's review

"During the development of our own prototypes at NetJuggler, we discovered that leather is actually an excellent thermal insulator, providing a natural barrier that is very difficult to replicate with synthetic materials. It's a lightweight accessory that adapts to all hand sizes thanks to its central pocket for 2 or 3 fingers. This is also a major selling point for reassuring your customers during dry periods: since the fire hand is attached to you, it won't fall to the ground, minimizing the risk of accidental fires."

FAQ: Expertise and Maintenance

Can you recreate the Monkey Fist braid yourself?
The torch wick consists of a 1.2 m Kevlar rope. While the user can create a monkey's fist knot, it requires some technical skill. It's not inherently complex, but a loose knot will alter the torch's inertia and accelerate fiber wear. We recommend practicing with rope before attempting to work with Kevlar.
Is the leather comfortable right out of the box?
Honestly, no. They might feel a little stiff at first. That's just the nature of leather: it needs to "break in" and undergo a few sessions to soften and mold perfectly to the shape of your hand. The more you use them, the more pleasant and comfortable they'll become.
Can it be used on the outside of the hand?
Absolutely! While holding the torch in the palm is the most common way to emphasize gestures, many performers prefer to hold it facing outwards (on the back of the hand). This is very popular for portraying fantasy characters. If you look at the photos on the page, you'll see that both ways of holding it are possible.
Why does the flame only last 3 minutes?
This model prioritizes discretion and elegance. A larger flame would require a bigger burner, drastically increasing the heat radiating towards your fingers. The 3-minute burn time strikes the perfect balance between visual appeal and thermal comfort.
Advice for performances during a drought?
This is a reassuring argument for your customers. Because the fire hands are fixed and won't fall, the risk of an accidental fire starting on the ground is virtually zero. However, strictly avoid playing on dry grass in summer; always opt for a non-flammable mineral surface.
Is leather susceptible to oil?
This is a point to be careful about: avoid letting any fuel droplets come into contact with the leather. If this happens, let it dry before using.
What temperature can Kevlar withstand?
Kevlar has very high resistance, but above 300°C, the fibers begin to deteriorate. Never place your lit torch on concrete or stone: the thermal reflection will cause the wick to heat up far too quickly, which could potentially damage the Kevlar fibers prematurely.
How should fire hands be stored after use?
Let them cool in the open air. Never store them in an airtight bag while they are still saturated with petroleum fumes. Opt for a ventilated fabric bag.
