Information on the 10.5 mm semi-static rope (EN 1891 A):

The 10.5 mm semi-static rope ( EN 1891 type A standard) has very low elasticity . It is designed to withstand loads and ensure controlled movements/lifts: it is used for holding , positioning and stabilizing , not to cushion a significant fall (for this, EN 892 dynamic ropes are used). In circus, it is widely used for fixing and setting up aerial equipment (trapezes, hoops, hammocks). Its low elasticity limits the vertical movement ("pumping") of the apparatus under load.

Construction : compact polyamide core and 32-ply polyamide (PA6) sheath . This architecture offers an excellent compromise between durability (abrasion), fluidity in devices and dimensional stability .

NetJuggler's opinion on the Iridium rope:

Robust reference for intensive applications where stability is required: aerial, platform rigging, lifting of small equipment, rescue, caving, canyoning, rope work. The measured elasticity (3.1% between 50→150 kg) is very low: on a 5 m suspension, going from 50 kg to 90 kg adds ≈ 6 cm of deflection, which remains very contained and comfortable to use.

Understanding this rope simply (explanation for beginners)

The 10.5 mm semi-static rope may seem very technical with all its figures. In concrete terms, this means that it is very strong (it can support several tons before breaking), that it moves very little when you hang from it (3 cm of elongation for each meter of rope under the weight of a person), and that it is made to hold and stabilize equipment rather than to cushion a fall. It is therefore ideal for fixing a trapeze, a hoop or for descending/ascending in caving. In short: it is a rope that remains stable, reliable and durable , even when you ask a lot of effort from it.

Device compatibility (10.5 mm)

• Compatible 10–11 mm blockers/descenders/plates and pulleys (check manufacturer's instructions).
• Running knots: figure 8 knot , half clove hitch, clove hitch, double fisherman's knot (be careful with tightening).
• Terminations: figure-8 knot (≈ 19.5 kN) or thimble + textile cable clamp according to rigging practices (follow the rules of the art).

Recommended uses

• Circus/aerial: anchoring apparatus (trapeze, hoop, hammock) and returns.
• Rigging & performance: light lifting, guying of stage elements.
• Rope work: progression/positioning, anchors.
• Caving & canyoning: descents and ascents with low “pumping”.
• Rescue/intervention: evacuation, balancers, hoists.

Instructions for use and maintenance

• Trimming margin : allow 2–3% to compensate for water shrinkage (2.3%).
• Running-in : an initial moderate tensioning can stabilize the length.
• Inspection : monitor sheath (linting, flats), wear points, useful length.
• Storage : dry, away from UV rays/chemical agents/high heat. Clean with warm water, dry in the shade.
• Safety : this is not a dynamic rope; avoid any configuration generating a high fall factor .
• Structure : ensure load-bearing capacity and prioritize redundancy of aerial anchors.

Colors: Only black is completely solid. The other colors include a black pattern (see photos), which is useful for identifying areas of wear.
