BMA Kit: Balls, Clubs, Rings

Do you want to discover classical juggling or progress in the three main disciplines of throwing juggling? This BMA kit brings together 9 accessories to learn to juggle with balls, clubs and rings.

In juggling jargon, the abbreviation BMA is often used for Balls, Clubs, Rings . These three disciplines hold a historical place in juggling and have long been considered by some purists as the only truly essential ones. A view that we now find somewhat simplistic... and which deserves a brief explanation!

A little story about jugglers: what are BMA?

In the juggling world, BMA refers to the three classic throwing juggling disciplines: Balls, Clubs and Rings .

But behind these three letters lies a small piece of our community's history!

Until the late 1990s, a certain "purist" juggling culture tended to consider BMA (Breath-Based Magical Arts) as representing true juggling. Other disciplines, such as diabolo, fire juggling, or practices now grouped under the term flow arts, were sometimes looked down upon, or even gently mocked.

For some, if you didn't throw three objects in the air, you weren't really juggling!

Fortunately, attitudes have changed. Juggling is now a much more open world, encompassing a multitude of disciplines, styles, and ways of expressing oneself. And that's all for the better!

This old hierarchy between disciplines sometimes leaves a slightly bitter taste in the mouths of the community. In hindsight, it seems quite limited: why should we pit a club juggler against a diabolo artist or a flow artist?

The abbreviation BMA, however, has remained! It is still very useful for designating the three classic disciplines of throwing juggling.

And it is precisely in this spirit that we have put together this kit: not because the BMA are the only disciplines that matter, but because they constitute three magnificent ways to discover and practice juggling.

What does the BMA kit contain?

  • 3 BBX Beanbag balls from Play: soft, durable and pleasant to handle balls, ideal for learning the three-ball cascade.
  • 3 OZAM Trainer clubs: robust and comfortable clubs, suitable for learning rotations and first club tricks.
  • 3 Play rings of 32.7 cm: to discover the special sensations of ring juggling and enrich your repertoire of figures.

NetJuggler's review of the BMA kit:

The BMA are a bit like the historical trio of juggling! Even if we do not share the idea that there are "real" and "false" juggling disciplines, we must recognize that balls, clubs and rings constitute a formidable playing field.

What we particularly like about these three disciplines is that they share common principles while offering very different sensations. A move learned with balls can sometimes be adapted to rings or clubs, with new technical challenges.

We selected BBX balls for their flexibility, OZAM clubs for their robustness and Play rings to complete this assortment with affordable equipment.

A kit to discover the BMA, progress and, why not, become a juggling purist... but an open-minded purist!

Why learn BMA?

Juggling with balls, clubs and rings allows you to work on many skills: coordination, precision, rhythm, trajectory management and concentration.

With this kit, you can start with the balls, then discover the rings and gradually tackle the club rotations.

And once you've explored these three disciplines, don't forget that there's a whole universe to discover: diabolo, bolas, devil stick, contact juggling, flow arts and many other practices!

The BMAs are an excellent starting point, not a boundary that should never be crossed!
