Expert Use - Visual and Stage Impact

The giant Snake fire bolas are radical performance apparatuses, featuring 40cm braided heads made of 100% para-aramid Kevlar®. This extra-long format generates massive flames, particularly during the first 90 seconds of combustion. Designed without bearings or swivels, they offer direct and organic control, ideal for slow movements, precise stalls, and visually impactful stage performances.

Snake Bolas 40cm Kevlar Head
Total length 70 cm
Head (Lock of Hair) 40 cm (300 g / head)
Pair Mass 725 g (dry)
Tethers (Rope) Technora (Black)

Materials and Technical Construction

The connection between the head and the handle is made of Technora rope , an aramid fiber renowned for its exceptional thermal resistance and complete lack of stretch. The assembly uses stainless steel quick links without any swivels, requiring the performer to have perfect control of the twist and axis.

⚠️ Technora Caution: Technora fiber is sensitive to fumes and flammable spray. Absolutely avoid any direct contact between flammable liquid and the black cord. In case of spray, do not ignite until completely evaporated.

NetJuggler's review

"This model is reserved for experienced practitioners. The 40cm format offers massive inertia that demands real physical commitment. The absence of bearings makes the movements more 'raw' and realistic, ideal for slow choreographed performances where every movement must be felt."

Fuel Guidelines

A poor choice of fuel on 300g Kevlar heads can prove dangerous for both the equipment and the performer.

Recommended fuels
  • Deodorized petroleum (Kerdane)
  • Paraffin or lamp oil
  • Barbecue lighter fluid (hot combustion)
  • "Firewater"
Strictly prohibited
  • Gasoline / Gasoline (Risk of explosion)
  • White spirit (Destroys the fiber and releases toxic fumes)
  • Alcohols / Methanol (Destructive chemical reaction)
  • Diesel (Harmful fumes, damages equipment)
⚠️ Critical Temperature: Kevlar® begins to deteriorate at 500°C. NEVER place your burning bolas on the ground (asphalt or concrete), as the thermal reflection accelerates the disintegration of the fibers.

Giant Snake Bolas FAQ

Why are there no swivels?
The absence of swivels and bearings allows for a direct connection to the weight of the strands. This is a preferred technical choice among some professionals for slow, choreographed movements where the performer controls the twisting of the cords themselves. If you prefer swivels, you can easily add your own: swivels (not included with these bolas).
How do you extinguish such large strands of hair?
Use a very thick, wet blanket. Extinguishing must be quick and complete. Never blow on the wicks. Given the amount of Kevlar, have an assistant equipped to safely extinguish the flame.
Is Technora sensitive to heat?
Technora is highly resistant to indirect heat, but it is susceptible to flames when left stationary. Always keep the bolas moving and separate the heads from the cords for storage using the provided quick links.
Why is ambulatory care discouraged?
With a 40 cm wick, the flames produce a considerable amount of light. The required safety distance around the artist is too large for close interaction with the public.
How to do the spin-off?
Braided Kevlar absorbs a great deal of moisture. It is essential to wring out the excess in a spin-off bucket to prevent the projection of flaming droplets during the initial rapid rotations.
