Cirque en Flotte is a non-profit circus school located in Plourivo, in the Côtes-d'Armor department, near Paimpol . The association was founded in February 2004 with an original ambition: to promote circus arts while creating connections with Brittany's maritime heritage . Its initial activities took the form of traveling workshops that journeyed by sea, stopping in various ports around Brittany.
Over the years, Cirque en Flotte has developed a true amateur circus school and offers weekly workshops for children, teenagers, and adults . The school allows participants to discover and develop their skills in numerous disciplines: juggling, acrobatics, trapeze, aerial silks, object balancing, tightrope walking, unicycle, acrobatic lifts , and also, occasionally, the German wheel, the seesaw, the trampoline , and other specialties through organized workshops and guest artists.
The association also places great importance on encounters, creation, and performance . Beyond regular classes, it organizes workshops, open mic nights, end-of-year shows, and various events related to circus arts. It also participates in inter-school circus events and develops projects with other cultural organizations and professional artists.
This openness is reflected in the original projects undertaken throughout its history, including workshops combining circus arts and sailing , performances presented on traditional sailing vessels, and initiatives with schools and local organizations. This connection with the maritime world is one of Cirque en Flotte's defining historical characteristics.
Founded in 2004, the association celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2024 and continues its activities today. Its current activities include the organization of workshops and events focused on juggling and circus arts, as well as the continuation of its workshops for the 2026-2027 season.
Cirque en Flotte is also a school approved by the French Federation of Circus Schools (FFEC), under number 22297 , and a member of FREC Bretagne.
