How to choose your handsticks?
Whichever handstick you choose, you can perform almost any trick.
- Beech wood handsticks are solid and efficient, they are widely used in schools and associations.
- Aluminum handsticks are rigid, the favourite of beginners because they are thin and therefore excellent for making slides / grinds that last a very long time. They are also used a lot by diabolists who practice intensively.
- Carbon handsticks are soft diabolo handsticks. They are used to practice with several diabolos in order to better cushion the reception of the diabolos. They offer additional comfort compared to aluminum ones.
- Fiberglass handsticks are very lightweight. The lighter the handsticks, the more you feel the diabolo on the string. On the same principle as the carbon handsticks, they are slightly flexible, for more comfort.
Adjust the string of your diabolo:
To practice the diabolo, an important point is the length of the string. The length depends on your size and also your preferences. There is no typical length!
That being said, generally for children, we put a total length of string that goes from the foot to the shoulder. For teenagers/adults, we put a slightly shorter length from the foot to the armpit.
To have the length you prefer, try different ones and, as soon as you feel you like it, keep it that way!
