Henrys Pro diabolo string :

10-meter roll of thin and resistant string to practice the diabolo. Doesn't get tangled around the diabolo.

The diabolo's string wears out and it's quite normal. To improve the life of your string, we advise you to be less violent and more extensive in your movements. Children who begin in this activity use their string 10 times faster than a professional. Just look at how much energy a child uses to accelerate his diabolo ;-). Imagine the amount of friction between the string and the diabolo. That being said, the Henrys pro string is more resistant than the default strings on the sticks.

However, if you use a fire diabolo, you will need to use Kevlar diabolo string (which does not melt and does not ignite).

NetJuggler's advices and tips regarding the strings:

Why is the Henrys string the choice of professionals ?

The Henrys string is in our opinion the best, not for its color, but for its fluidity. The friction on the axis is minimized. Avoid using it in a wet or dusty environment and you will increase its lifespan.

Informations for professionals:

When we ask Henrys, the manufacturer of the string, they say that every color of string is identical, but we've been selling it since 2004 and the diabolists tell us the opposite. It seemed a good idea to convey to you the information provided by Alexis Levillon, an experienced diabolist, on the differences between the colors of the strings.

There's the list of strings from the one that sticks the less to the one that sticks the most:

  • Yellow string - slides a lot, used rather for vertax tricks, it will take a little time before the hook is ideal.
  • Orange string - slides less than the yellow one, it is the favorite color of most of the diabolists.
  • Green string - sticks more than the orange one, it is usually the diabolists favorite practicing with several diabolos at the same time. Indeed, you will have to be able to speed up the diabolos quickly which will be easier to do with this string than with the yellow or orange string.
  • White string - used by the diabolists who practice with several diabolos but also by the beginner diabolists who struggle to speed up their diabolo at the very beginning.

This information on strings is given only as a guide, but don't rely on it entirely because the choice of the color of the string is very personal and everybody has their preferences. If there are differences between each string color, it's because the colors used will have an influence on the grip of the string fibers.

Set the string of your diabolo:

To practice the diabolo, the length of the string is really important. The length depends on your size and also on your preferences. There's no standard length !

That being said, for children a total length of string is from the foot to the shoulder. For teenagers/adults, one can take a shorter length of string: from the foot to the armpit.
To find the length you prefer, do several tests and, as soon as it feels great, keep it that way !

What kind of use ?

This string is intended for intensive use by experienced diabolists. It also suits beginners because they tend to use their string much faster than experienced diabolists and will therefore need a robust string.

Informations about the manufacturer Henrys:

Henrys is a German brand, that all professionals in the middle of juggling will recommend. Their equipment is known to be robust, it is designed for an intensive use.

    String choice

    Good morning,

Which string should I choose for an 11-year-old boy who has a ball-bearing diabolo, please?

    Shorten the string

    Good morning,

Can you explain to me how to shorten the string (and eventually change them) on Henrys carbon sticks?

    Sincerely

    William

    • Answer
      Re: Shortening the string

Changing the string on carbon diabolo sticks

On Henrys carbon sticks, the string is tied with a double knot at the end of each stick. So, simply pull the string a little at the back of a stick and tie a double knot once you have the length of string you want.

To change the string, simply remove it and replace it with a new string. A double knot secures the string at each end.

I bought this string in orange with a juggle a dream diabolo but it wraps around the diabolo during tricks like infinite releases, mini genocide... do you have any advice to help me?

In addition, I have seen several people who have the same equipment and who do not have this problem.... thank you for helping me :)

      Re: problem

You may have learned to play the diabolo on a ball-bearing diabolo. In this case, with a diabolo equipped with a fixed axle, you will have to learn to be more precise with your movements. Indeed, a diabolo string grips much more on a diabolo with a fixed axle because there is a lot of friction compared to a diabolo with bearings where friction is almost zero.

    What color should I choose?

I play with 2 or 3 diabolos... But I also play with 1 from time to time? Won't the green Henrys string be a problem for the first diabolo? It's not visible enough in my opinion... Is the orange one a good compromise? Many thanks!

Re: What color should I choose?

      Green string: maximum grip

The green string grips better than the yellow and orange strings when new. This is an advantage when practicing with several diabolos because it will be easier to quickly build speed to your diabolos.

      What string for 1 diabolo?

To practice a diabolo, it will depend on you. Do you prefer a string that grips when it is new or on the contrary a smoother string that grips less? A string that grips less will have more difficulty wrapping around the axis of the diabolo when the diabolo turns at very high speed... For visibility, with a diabolo it is often useful to see the string of your diabolo clearly, especially when performing tricks where the string is partly hidden. Orange or fluorescent yellow allows you to see where to catch/recover your diabolo and these are colors that grip less than green or white (in the case of the Henrys brand string).

Several strings depending on the type of practice

Diabolists who practice a lot often have several pairs of sticks equipped with different strings depending on the style of practice they will be performing. Sometimes during performances, diabolists change sticks during their act.

    Is she

I play a lot of diabolo and the string often breaks (every week)

Is she going to do the same?

    • Answer
      Re: Is she

Of course, the string will wear out. All strings wear out. It certainly comes from your practice style.

If you make jerky or very sharp (or even violent) movements, your string will wear out prematurely.

I invite you to make larger movements, which will ultimately give more speed to your diabolo than jerky movements and this will allow you to wear out your string at least half as quickly.

This German-made Henrys string is more robust than other manufacturers' strings and will last you longer than the standard string sold on the handsticks (regardless of the brand of diabolo handsticks).

      Happy juggling.

string for children starting on tornado

    Good morning,

What string (color) do you recommend for my 9 and 10 year old children who are starting out (intensively) on Tornado?

    THANKS

    25/10/2014
    • Answer
Re: string for child beginner on tornado

Honestly, the most durable diabolo string is definitely Henrys string.

Since children who are just starting out usually have an intensive and violent practice! They tend to make very jerky movements and they go very hard.

Diabolo strings will wear out more quickly for beginners than for more experienced diabolo players. Therefore, a high-quality string is a good choice even for a beginner.

    [DF70]Hang

I saw on the other ropes that we were talking about "grip"...

It is also said that the HENRYS string is the one that catches the least and that it is not ideal for practicing with several diabolos in the string...

I would like to get started on that, and for the moment, I am practicing with this string.

Are these statements true (is it still possible to juggle several diabolos with HENRYS string)???

    Thanks in advance !!!

      [DF70]Re: [DF70]Hanging

I just added a paragraph: Information for professionals. This should answer your questions about string grip. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to get back to me. But basically, depending on the color of string you choose, it will grip more or less. Basically, the more grip the string has, the more suitable it is for practicing with several diabolos.

    [TWINE_10m]?

What is the difference between this string and the one for yo-yos? Can it be used for yo-yos?

    19/12/2013
    • Answer
      [FICELLE_10m]Re: [FICELLE_10m]?

These strings are completely different. Yo-yo strings are doubled to form a loop in which the yo-yo is placed. Diabolo strings are thicker and undoubled. Diabolo strings don't work with yoyos, and yo-yo strings don't work with diabolos (they'll snag too much, causing the diabolo to wrap around the string, not to mention the string will wear out in just a few moments before breaking).

      Re: [FICELLE_10m]use

Of course, friction wears things out. This is the case regardless of the diabolo and regardless of your string. It's like the yo-yo, you have to change your strings from time to time. The lifespan of a string varies. A string can last a day or it can last you a few months. It depends on your way of practicing... If you are dynamic, nervous, or on the contrary more flexible and ample in your movements :-)

      Re: [TWINE_10m]diameter

Henrys neon-colored string spools are thin string. This prevents the diabolo from winding up in the string when you give it a lot of speed. This is generally the string chosen by experienced diabolists.
