30m reel of Kevlar thread:

To create your own juggling equipment. You will be able to sew your wicks.

This makes it possible to solidify certain constructions but it will also make it possible to fix the wicks together while avoiding certain hot spots such as for example on "swallowing fire" torches.

NetJuggler information:

Our wick is assembled in Europe and meets high quality standards established according to strict specifications.

Characteristics of the wick:

  • Kevlar wick of European manufacture.
  • Model: thread.
  • Length on the reel: 30 meters.
  • Thick thread (we also sell thin Kevlar thread).

Some interesting characteristics of the Kevlar:

  • Excellent resistance to shocks and fatigue.
  • Good chemical behavior towards fuels.
  • Significant moisture uptake (4%) steaming before impregnation.
  • Resistance to fire, (decomposes at 400 ° C).

What type of needle to use with Kevlar?

For sewing with Kevlar thread, the same type of needle is used as for sewing leather. These are curved needles. NetJuggler does not sell these types of needles, you will find them quite easily in haberdasheries. We advise you to use large-sized models for sewing. To avoid hurting your fingers, use small pliers to push in your needle.

What kind of use ?

Fire equipment is aimed at professionals ! Fire burns...

Roast leg thread:

Our customers have also taught us that this thread is ideal for baking your roasted legs ! The Kevlar thread is fireproof and does not burn ! In the meantime, we would like to be invited to your table to have a taste !

Warning: This item can be dangerous. Always handle a flaming object with care and provide something to extinguish it (wet non-flammable cloth reserved for this use). This item is prohibited for those under the age of 18.

Kevlar is indeed an extremely tensile fiber: at the same diameter, it is stronger than steel. It is for this property that it is widely used in many technical and safety fields. 💪

On the other hand, its fire resistance has its limits :
Kevlar can withstand temperatures up to about 400°C (852°F ) continuously. But exposure to a concentrated flame—like the blue part of a lighter flame 🔥 that reaches well over 1000°C (2022°F)—causes it to degrade immediately. Therefore, even a simple lighter can quickly damage or melt the fiber.

In the field of fire juggling , Kevlar is used in very specific conditions:
🔥 The wicks are always soaked in dearomatized petroleum , a fuel that allows a relatively cool flame (mainly yellow) to be maintained, limiting direct thermal aggression on the Kevlar.
🔄 The apparatus (torches, bolas, staffs, etc.) are generally in constant motion during use, which helps avoid fixed points of localized overheating.
⚠️ On the other hand, if the still burning material is placed on a surface such as bitumen , it will reflect the heat, cause thermal accumulation under the Kevlar and quickly cause the temperature to exceed 400°C, leading to the disintegration of the fiber.

Additionally, the way Kevlar is mechanically stressed while burning also has a great influence on its lifespan:
🔧 When it is twisted, bent or rubbed while hot or burning, the internal fibers become fragile.
👷‍♂️ This is what we observe, for example, in some of our customers who build giant flaming puppets : at the pivots and joints, repeated movements and mechanical constraints accelerate the degradation of Kevlar.
✅ Conversely, in more classic uses (torches, bolas, staffs, etc.), where the Kevlar is in fluid movement and without too many mechanical constraints, our customers carry out several hundred ignitions of a few minutes before the Kevlar shows signs of wear.

For your project of hanging hams 🥩 over a fire or embers, you should instead choose specific ropes designed for cooking and holding under prolonged heat, which will be better suited to this culinary use.

Please do not hesitate to ask any further questions; I am available to provide any further information. 😊

      Re: String diameter

Thin twine is less than 1 mm thick. Thick twine is made up of several thin strings and is approximately 1.2 mm thick.
