The length of the string is crucial to your success. It must be adapted to your body type:

Children (from 7-8 years old): From foot to shoulder.

What is the difference between a fixed axle and a bearing?

A diabolo with bearings spins much longer because it almost eliminates friction on the axle. This makes it easier to perform a series of long tricks. The diabolo with bearings also allows for vertical use, a technique known as Vertax or Excalibur. A fixed axle is more robust; there's no wear and tear on mechanical parts like with bearings, and it allows for "elevator"-type tricks impossible with a bearing. A diabolo with a fixed axle is also better suited for learning to use several diabolos at the same time because it grips the string more firmly, whereas a diabolo with bearings slides along the string. Circus schools often recommend starting with a diabolo with a fixed axle because it encourages discipline in learning, which is beneficial if you're taking diabolo classes. The diabolo with bearings allows you to achieve success and enjoyment right away.

Why 5 bearings instead of just one?

The 5-bearing system allows for better distribution of mechanical forces. This reduces wear on the central axle and provides increased stability during unbalanced or Vertax (Excalibur) movements.

Is the Hurricane suitable for children?

It is suitable for all levels, but for children under 6-7 years old, a medium-sized diabolo (Cyclone Quartz type) is often preferable as it is lighter and easier to throw.

How to maintain the bearings?

No maintenance (greasing) is necessary. We advise against disassembling the axle of your diabolo. If you absolutely must disassemble it and disregard our (cheeky) advice, go ahead, but carefully note the orientation of the parts, the orientation of the concave washers, and above all, don't lose any tiny parts, or you'll be ruined! The bearings are wear parts. A diabolo of this type, used intensively every day in a circus school, will have a lifespan of between 1 and 2/3 years.

What length of string should I use?

General rule: the string should go from the foot to the shoulder (children) or to the armpit (adults). The shorter the string, the faster you can do it; the longer it is, the more space you have for the wraps.

Can I practice with multiple diabolos?

The Hurricane 5-bearing diabolo isn't the ideal model for learning to play with 2 or 3 diabolos because it has bearings. We generally recommend larger, fixed-axle diabolos for practicing with multiple diabolos. Diabolos with fixed axles tend to catch on the string and spin more slowly around each other. However, if you're working with a diabolo instructor who has techniques for playing with multiple diabolos equipped with bearings, then the Hurricane will be suitable, but in my opinion, it's not the easiest option: prove me wrong!

Can I install LEDs on this diabolo?

Yes, its transparent casing diffuses light perfectly. It is compatible with the button cell battery kit or the Fluxo 2K USB rechargeable kit .
