Snake Tape Rainbow by Prodigy:
Snake Tape Rainbow is a fabric adhesive tape for covering aerial hoops and trapeze bars. Its rainbow pattern allows you to personalize your apparatus while adding a cotton grip to the contact areas.
Its 100% cotton, latex-free fabric offers a textile-like feel. It is advertised as hypoallergenic by the manufacturer, Prodigy. This ribbon is primarily intended for aerial circus equipment .
Wider than the plain Snake Tape: this Rainbow version measures 50 mm wide , compared to 38 mm for the other model offered on our website. This width requires more care during application to avoid creases.
NetJuggler's review of Snake Tape Rainbow:
The advantage of this version is that you can achieve a multicolored finish with a single roll of tape, without alternating several rolls of different colors. The pattern forms colored bands around the tube as it's wound. Its 5 cm width does require a bit of care: take the time to adjust the angle and smooth each turn. For your first application, or if you want to add thickness to certain areas, having a second roll on hand provides more flexibility.

How many rolls of paper are needed to cover a hoop?
According to Prodigy, a 14-meter roll is generally sufficient to cover a hoop up to 100 cm in diameter, with a 25 mm tube . The quantity used also depends on the overlap between the turns and the desired thickness.
Plan on having two rolls in the following situations:
- The diameter of the tube exceeds 25 mm.
- The diameter of the hoop exceeds 100 cm.
- You want a greater overlap or to add extra thicknesses.
- You want to keep some tape on hand for touch-ups and repairs to the coating.
How do you apply tape to an aerial hoop?
Place the tape on a clean, dry tube. Start at the bottom of the hoop , then work your way up the first half. Wrap the tape in a spiral, overlapping the turns. Smooth the fabric regularly and maintain moderate tension to minimize wrinkles.
For the second half, start again from the bottom and work your way up in the opposite direction . Initially, overlap the first strip by a length of about a hand's width, as recommended by the manufacturer.
With its 50 mm width, this tape requires particular attention to the winding angle. Advance gradually to maintain a consistent overlap.

Why can the tape be sticky after application?
Prodigy notes that excess adhesive can seep through the cotton weave . The surface may then be slightly sticky upon application, or become so as the tape heats up during training. Heat can also exacerbate this effect.
The manufacturer recommends lightly rubbing the new tape with chalk to absorb any excess. It may be necessary to reapply the chalk during the first few uses. This effect usually diminishes with practice.
Without magnesium sulfate, excess adhesive can transfer onto hands or clothing.
