Staff fire contact Twista:
The Twista 140cm fire contact staff is a high-quality staff, made of 7075 aluminum . a rigid, robust and surprisingly lightweight "space tech" alloy. Its Twista 100% Kevlar wick heads are specially designed to provide a massive and stable flame , with an excellent flywheel effect, ideal for staff contact . It comes with two Kevlar protectors to preserve the strands between each session.
This model is equipped with a high-temperature resistant silicone grip offering remarkable control. even during long sessions. The specially woven Kevlar retains excellent fuel volume. guaranteeing combustion times of 7 to 8 minutes .
NetJuggler's opinion on the former Twista contact staff:
The Twista is a staff designed for performance, combining rigidity, inertia and great flame without sacrificing handling. The Twista braiding efficiently absorbs fuel and distributes heat and ensures regular combustion, which enhances rotational stability. With its 22mm aluminum tube and heavy heads, it offers remarkable performance for tricks of contact: fishtails, angel rolls, body rolls and isolations.
The Twista wick generates significant weight at the ends, creating a very noticeable gyroscopic effect: Even at low speeds, the staff remains predictable and fluid. It's an excellent choice for deepening your understanding of the discipline. from contact staff or to evolve towards a more dance-like and technical style.

The Contact Staff: Understanding Discipline
Contact Staff differs from traditional spinning by an approach based on the absence of gripping . The staff rolls over the body without being held: it is the practitioner who becomes the guiding surface. The discipline is based on inertia, centrifugal force and the management of the center of gravity.
The main subtlety lies in the constant movement of the control point . In traditional juggling, everything is controlled by the hand. In contact staff juggling, this aspect constantly shifts: Neck, shoulder, arm, back, torso… This rebalancing game develops a fine perception of movement.
One of the key principles is isolation : to make a movement fluid, the body moves around the staff, and not the other way around. Another fundamental principle is cushioning , which allows a vertical fall to be transformed in controlled horizontal rolling.
The staff acts like an external gyroscope . Thanks to the mass at the ends – here created by the soaked Twista strands – The stick maintains its trajectory more easily, even at low speeds. This creates the flywheel effect , essential to the discipline.
Beyond the technical aspect, staff contact has a meditative dimension. Posture and body movement work promotes a state of Flow . similar to active meditation.
Fire Safety Block:
Fire safety is essential: contact with staff requires absolute vigilance.
Wringing is crucial: centrifugal force can project burning fuel if the excess is not removed.
SILICONE tape: the grip protects against hot metal and resists as long as the staff remains in motion.
Never leave a staff standing still while burning: a minute can be enough to degrade the silicone.
Fuel: Use only deodorized kerosene. Never use gasoline.
Hair and clothing: wear a Kevlar cap, tie your hair back,
and avoid synthetic textiles.
Environment: clear space, fire extinguisher or fire blanket required.
Never burn alone.
Key tip for practice:
Contact staff is a dance with inertia. Go with the flow rather than trying to control it. This is the key to entering the Flow.
