Pair of Aerial Straps – Circus Division:
Circus Division (Play Juggling) aerial straps are made from reinforced polyester circular slings covered with a double tubular sheath for enhanced durability and a softer feel. Designed for professional aerial artists , companies, and experienced amateurs, they offer comfort, precision, and versatility, particularly for duos and evolving aerial apparatus routines.
WLL 2000 kg – Safety factor 7:1. Reinforced anti-slip stitching on the anchor side and collar on the hand/foot side for reliable support.
Why choose tubular polyester straps?
Historically, straps were made of cotton. Modern versions made of tubular polyester offer greater comfort (softer grip, less pressure on the skin/shoulders), increased durability thanks to the double sheath, and a more affordable price . This makes them an excellent entry point for beginners using aerial straps , while remaining perfectly suited for intensive use by professionals. The softer feel is particularly appreciated by both children and adults .
By comparison, flat, polyester "car seatbelt" style strap models can be more abrasive and leave marks on the shoulders. See the "car seatbelt" alternative here: Belt-style overhead straps .
NetJuggler's review of Circus Division Aerial Straps:
A robust choice for intensive training and stage performance. The double sheath minimizes abrasion and enhances comfort during extended grips, while maintaining the responsiveness required for strength moves and rotations. The stitched end on the anchor side prevents slippage, while the collar on the user side facilitates a secure grip. We particularly recommend these for artists looking to expand their repertoire of held poses and dynamic transitions . As with all apparatus, safety depends on proper setup and rigorous maintenance (records, inspections, traceability).
Technical specifications:
- Material: Circular polyester slings with double tubular sheath .
- Working Load Limit (WLL): 2000 kg .
- Safety factor: 7:1 .
- Suggested lengths (development/“ring”): 5 m and 6 m .
- Useful lengths per strand (use): 2.5 m (for 5 m of development) and 3.0 m (for 6 m of development).
- Ends: reinforced anti-slip stitching on the anchoring side; collar on the hand/foot side.
- Recommended standard mounting: 3-point triangular plate + swivels connected to the anchor point (not included).
- Certification: CE and individual markings.
- Colour: black.
What length of straps (aerial straps) should I choose?
- 5 m (development) = 2.5 m per strand in use.
- 6 m (development) = 3.0 m per strand in use.
- The longer the straps, the more material you have to work with (wraps, transitions, aesthetic variations), but the more available height you will need.
- If your ceiling height is limited, opt for the 5m version (2.5m per strand).
At what height should I install my aerial straps?
Mounting with a triangular plate equipped with swivels generally adds approximately 50 cm above the straps (including the thickness of the connectors). This allowance must be factored into your height calculations .
Example calculation (real case) : your room is 4.5 m high and you want the bottom of the straps to be 1.50 m from the floor. With 2.5 m straps (5 m version), we get: 1.50 m (distance from the floor) + 2.50 m (straps) + 0.50 m (platform + swivels) = 4.50 m . That's perfect.
How high from the ground should the straps be?
- Beginners / domestic work : bring the bottom of the straps to 1.30 m to 1.50 m above the safety mat (a comfortable reference is 1.50 m ).
- This height allows you to start standing up , turn via the swivels and move from one figure to another while limiting exposure to risk.
- Advanced/professional practice : greater height depending on artistic needs, with appropriate skills and insurance .
Assembly: triangular plate & choice of accessories
We recommend installing the straps on a 3-point triangular plate with swivels for smooth and controlled rotation. Allow approximately 50 cm of clearance for the plate, connectors, and swivels. For aerial straps and dance trapeze, the larger plate provides more spacing between the points, preventing the swivels from colliding during movement.
- Recommended base plate (large triangle): 3-point triangular anchor – large model (30 kN) .
- Alternative plate (small triangle): 3-point triangular anchorage – small model (30 kN) .
Tip : If the spacing between points is too small, the swivels can hit each other. The large triangle limits this phenomenon.
For what type of practice?
- Target audience: professionals , companies, circus schools, advanced amateurs.
- Uses: stage , training room , workshops in a supervised environment.
- Particularly suited to repertoires combining held figures, rotations, and floor sequences .

What are straps (aerial straps)?
Aerial straps are an aerial apparatus consisting of two suspended ribbons made of technical fabric. The artist wraps the ends around their hands, wrists, or feet to perform strength moves , static holds , rotations , and dance-like transitions . Modern practice has become more accessible : artists often work closer to the ground , incorporating rotations (mounted on a triangular platform with swivels) and fluid sequences of movements. The straps offer an aesthetic that is both graphic and athletic , similar to gymnastic rings but with greater freedom of movement.
History of Aerial Straps:
The origins of straps can be traced back to Chinese acrobatic arts . The modern evolution of the discipline is marked by the Russian brothers Yuri and Valery Panteleenko , discovered in 1969 by coach Vladivien Levshin . From 1972 onwards, they introduced a new stage language: swings , circular figures , and synchronized duets , blending grace and fluidity with power. Winners of the USSR National Circus Competition in 1973, they contributed to the international dissemination of straps, notably at the Moscow State Circus , inspiring generations of contemporary artists.
Warnings : This equipment is intended for trained users and must be installed by a competent person on a certified structure and anchor point . Observe the WLL (Working Load Limit), never exceed the indicated loads, and do not modify the equipment. Mandatory record : sling specifications, CE marking data, dates of periodic inspections, responsible party, and inspection observations. Before each use: visual inspection (wear, cuts, crushing, seams, sheath), verification of connections (links, carabiners, swivels), and removal from service if in doubt. Avoid abrasion and sharp edges; do not expose to chemical agents; do not store in damp conditions; keep away from heat sources. Use appropriate PPE and active supervision/safety during training.

it's expensive
We have less expensive models, but they're less comfortable to use. You're right to point out that any aerial equipment requires a budget to set up – good point!
