Pair of Aerial Straps – Circus Division:
Circus Division (Play Juggling) aerial straps are made from reinforced polyester circular slings covered with a double tubular sheath for greater durability and a more flexible feel. Designed for professional aerial artists , companies and experienced amateurs, they offer comfort, precision and versatility, particularly for duos and evolving repertoires in aerial apparatus .
WLL 2000 kg – Safety factor 7:1. Reinforced anti-slip stitching on the anchor side and collar on the hands/feet side for a secure fit.
Why choose tubular polyester straps?
Historically, straps were made of cotton. Modern versions made of tubular polyester offer better comfort (softer grip, less marking on the skin/shoulders), increased durability thanks to the double sheath and a more affordable cost . This makes them an excellent entry point for beginners in aerial straps , while remaining perfectly suited to intensive use by professionals. The softer feel is particularly appreciated by children and adults alike.
For comparison, flat polyester "car seat belt" straps can be more abrasive and leave marks on shoulders. See the "car seat belt" alternative here: Belt-style overhead straps .
NetJuggler's review of the Circus Division Aerial Straps:
A robust choice for intensive training and the stage. The double sheath limits abrasion and improves comfort during prolonged grips, while maintaining the responsiveness necessary for strength figures and rotations. The sewn end on the anchor side prevents slippage, while the collar on the user side facilitates gripping. We particularly recommend them for artists wishing to enrich their range of held postures and dynamic transitions . Like all apparatus, safety depends on proper assembly and rigorous monitoring (register, inspections, traceability).
Technical characteristics:
- Material: Polyester circular slings with double tubular sheath .
- Working Load Limit (WLL): 2000 kg .
- Safety factor: 7:1 .
- Proposed lengths (development/“ring”): 5 m and 6 m .
- Useful lengths per strand (use): 2.5 m (for 5 m of development) and 3.0 m (for 6 m of development).
- Ends: Reinforced anti-slip seam on anchor side; collar on hands/feet side.
- Recommended standard mounting: 3-point triangular plate + swivels connected to the anchor point (not included).
- Certification: CE and individual markings.
- Color: black.
What length of straps (aerial straps) should I choose?
- 5 m (development) = 2.5 m per strand in use.
- 6 m (development) = 3.0 m per strand in use.
- The longer the straps, the more material you have to work with (wraps, transitions, aesthetic variations), but the more available height you will need.
- If your ceiling height is limited, choose the 5 m version (2.5 m per strand).
At what height should you install your aerial straps?
Mounting with a triangular plate equipped with swivels generally adds ≈ 50 cm above the straps (including the thickness of the connectors). This reserve must be included in your height calculation .
Calculation example (real case) : your room is 4.5 m high and you want the bottom of the straps to be 1.50 m from the ground. With 2.5 m straps (5 m version), we get: 1.50 m (floor distance) + 2.50 m (straps) + 0.50 m (plate + swivels) = 4.50 m . That's perfect.
How high off the ground should the straps be?
- Beginners / domestic work : bring the bottom of the straps to 1.30 m to 1.50 m above the safety mat (a comfortable reference is 1.50 m ).
- This height allows you to start standing , turn using the swivels and move from one figure to another while limiting exposure to risk.
- Advanced/professional practice : greater height according to artistic needs, with appropriate skills and insurance .
Mounting: triangular plate & choice of accessories
We recommend installing the straps on a 3-point triangular plate with swivels for smooth and controlled rotation. Allow approximately 50 cm of height for the plate + connectors + swivels. For aerial straps and dance trapezes, the large plate provides more space between the points: this prevents the swivels from hitting each other during movement.
- Recommended plate (large triangle): 3-point triangular anchor – large model (30 kN) .
- Alternative plate (small triangle): 3-point triangular anchor – small model (30 kN) .
Tip : If the distance between points is too small, the swivels may knock against each other. The large triangle limits this phenomenon.
For what type of practice?
- Target audience: professionals , companies, circus schools, advanced amateurs.
- Uses: stage , training room , workshops in a supervised environment.
- Particularly suited to repertoires combining held figures, rotations, and floor sequences .

What are straps (aerial straps)?
Aerial straps are an aerial apparatus composed of two suspended ribbons made of technical textile. The artist wraps the ends around the hands, wrists or feet to perform strength figures , static holds , rotations and dance transitions . The current practice has become more widespread : we tend to work closer to the ground , in rotation (mounted on a triangular plate + swivels) and fluid sequences of figures. The straps offer an aesthetic that is both graphic and athletic , close to gymnastic rings but with increased freedom of movement.
History of Aerial Straps:
The origins of straps date back to Chinese acrobatic arts . The modern evolution of the discipline is marked by the Russian brothers Yuri and Valery Panteleenko , spotted in 1969 by the coach Vladivien Levshin . From 1972, they introduced a new stage language: swings , circular figures and synchronized duets , mixing grace and fluidity with power. Winners of the USSR National Circus Competition in 1973, they contributed to the international diffusion of straps, notably at the Moscow State Circus , inspiring generations of contemporary artists.
Warnings : This apparatus is intended for a trained public and must be installed by a competent person on a certified structure and anchor point . Respect the WLL, never exceed the indicated loads, do not make any modifications to the equipment. Mandatory register : characteristics of the sling, CE plate data, dates of periodic checks, person in charge and inspection observations. Before each session: visual inspection (wear, cuts, crushing, seams, sheath), check of connections (links, carabiners, swivels) and remove from service in case of doubt. Avoid abrasion and sharp edges; do not expose to chemical agents; do not store wet; keep away from heat sources. Use suitable PPE and active supervision/assurance during training.
