The Monkey Fist: naval tradition, stage impact

The Monkey Fist , or towline knot , has its roots in the maritime world. This ancient knot, used to weigh down the end of a rope, is today one of the most popular in fire practice. By forming a dense, spherical and compact head, it guarantees a balanced flame and perfectly readable movement, even in the dark.

A Kevlar head, designed to burn

The head is braided from para-aramid Kevlar , specially designed to be soaked and lit. It withstands long sessions and fast tricks without fraying. Its 5x5 braiding ensures density, optimal absorption and good transfer of movement energy.

Technora: the rope that serves your fluidity

The rope is made of Technora , a high-heat-resistant aramid that does not ignite. Unlike Kevlar, it does not absorb fuel, which limits flames from rising. Flexible, durable, ultra-maneuverable, the Technora allows you to perform wraps , dynamic sequences and throws with complete confidence.

Modular, fluid and scalable

The head is mounted on a pivot equipped with a ball bearing , for frictionless rotation, essential in high-speed tricks. A stainless steel quick link allows the head to be detached: you can easily replace the wick or reuse the rope with other modules.

⚠ Specific precautions for Technora rope

• Never soak the rope in fuel
• If a drop falls on the rope: turn or moisten before lighting
• Avoid letting the head burn on the ground for more than 10 seconds
• Preferably use paraffin or kerosene
• Keep head and rope in separate bags

What length should I choose?

The 3 meter version is ideal for fast tricks, tight spaces or medium sized performers. The 4 meter version offers more range and potential in large performances, especially for experienced dancers.

The length is fixed, but the quick link allows you to easily adapt your configuration if necessary.
