Meteor Twista Black 140cm

Sold individually. Product intended for professional use: supervised practice and protective equipment strongly recommended.
Meteor Twista – Large 1m40 – NetJuggler:
This is the long version of the Meteor Twista, with much bigger heads! Designed for professionals looking for large amplitudes , massive visual impact and significant physical commitment . With its 1.40m total length (TL) rope + heads, this model requires perfect control of braking and a truly clear space. The large heads produce a wide flame and a marked inertia: the rotation is slower but hypnotically stable, ideal for the stage.
The length between the heads (LBT) is approximately 120 cm (adjustable via knots). This model is not recommended for limited space. Reminder: LT = total length handle ↔ end. LBT = distance between the two bits: this is what mainly determines the lever arm and the feeling of inertia.
NetJuggler's review of the Meteor Twista Large:
Compared to the Twista Polyvalent model (75 cm), the sensation is radically different: more inertia, slower but ultra-regular rotation, and a significantly increased visual impact. It requires impeccable technical precision to avoid imbalances or backfires. Perfect for outdoor demonstrations. If you want to modulate the inertia, the stainless steel quick links allow you to add/remove weights or switch to "dry" drive heads.
Technical characteristics:
- Mass of a head: 120 g (flat Kevlar 25 mm × 3 mm compacted, wide and sustained flame).
- Total mass (including rope): 305 g (high inertia, stable trajectory, requires physical power).
- Total length: 140cm (measured length, heads included).
- Distance between heads: 120 cm (LBT) adjustable by approx. via knots.
- Head size: 10 cm long, Ø6 cm (volume = large fuel reserve → visual flame).
- Rope: Black Technora, Ø7 mm (9 mm splices) – high thermal resistance, low elongation, slightly rough feel.
- Wicks: Flat Kevlar 25 mm x 3 mm (good capillarity, even wear, easy replacement).
- Quick links and hardware: stainless steel (no zinc/aluminum → it's always a little less toxic fumes lol).
- Heads can be removed using quick links (maintenance, upgrades or conversion to drive heads possible).
- Swivel included: 1 on each head if you do a lot of anti-spin/isolations they help limit twisting.
For what type of practice?
- Target audience: seasoned professional artists, highly experienced flow artists.
- Exclusive outdoor use with large clearance.
- Ideal for large figures, technical slow motion, wide spirals, horizontal “helicopter” shots and strong stage visuals.
Origins and evolution of the discipline:
The meteor is the direct heir to the Chinese liúxīng chuí , a flexible weapon used to strike or hinder from a distance. Present since the Ming dynasty, it relied on a long lever arm to increase inertia and impact power. Similar systems are found in South American bolas (hunting), Maori poi (ritual dance) and even Chinese rope dart .
Since the 1980s, these objects have been reinterpreted in the circus and juggling, giving rise to an art of movement based on rhythm, trajectory and bodily expression. Modern fire versions incorporate technical materials such as Kevlar, Technora or stainless steel, allowing for safer and visually spectacular practice.
Parallels between weapon and art:
The long version of the meteor is closer to the historical lengths of martial weapons: a tool made to generate significant torque over wide arcs. In fire arts, this becomes a powerful stage presence, spectacular slow-motion movements and increased readability of trajectories. Wraps, plan changes, and braking echo the martial logic of attack, control, and blocking. The distance imposed by this model recalls the importance of precision, balance, and timing.
Optional additional products:
Check out our selection of Kevlar protection (gloves, sleeves, hats, etc.) suitable for handling long-range fire objects.
The rope is interchangeable with that of the Twista 75 cm model if you wish to create a modular set.
Essential precautions : Reserved for trained adults. Always check your equipment (knots, links, Kevlar/Technora wear). Wear suitable clothing (natural fibers) and work in a safe area with a fire assistant. Always carry a fire extinguisher, fire blanket, and first aid kit. Store equipment away from any heat source and in a perfectly dry place.

What adjustments for such a long meteor?
A center knot removes about 5 cm of LBT; a splice-side knot removes ~10 cm of LT. Cold-adjust, note your ideal length, and check that the symmetry of the heads is maintained.
How to warm up effectively?
Engage your shoulders, hips, and wrists: large, slow circles and controlled rotations. Work on wide pendulums, arm/torso wraps, and gentle braking before ramping up the pace.
What exercises can I use to progress?
Favor slow, wide-radius maneuvers: horizontal spirals, "open" plane changes, slow isolations. Film yourself to correct alignment and posture, especially when braking.
How long to train before the fire?
At least 4 weeks of structured cold training is recommended. Don't get carried away until your routines are reproducible without error and your braking is mastered.
Pro tips?
A 2 cm difference in length greatly changes the inertia. Use thin heat-resistant gloves/Kevlar to disassemble the hot heads. Separate the rope and heads during storage to extend the life of the Technora/Kevlar.
